6. Version 1

Here are some of the animations for Lower Thirds and Transitions for critique on Thursday. A few touch ups will be done for Monday, but overall it's completed.

LOWER THIRD 1 & LOWER THIRD 2

For these lower thirds everyone seemed to really like them. The few things they said that might need to be touched up was the text boxes probably needed to be bigger and have the backdrop move a little more and be more animated.

TRANSITION 1

For this transition it seemed very successful. One of the things was that instead of it going from the top right to bottom left, maybe it should go in the opposite direction.

LOOPING BACKGROUND

We got a little confused with the looping background so it looks a little crazy and very distracting. So we needed to first simplify more and then add text onto the background so we can see how it works.

PART OF SHOW OPEN

Not really much to say about this. We were to have the open completed in time for critique but were unsuccessful. Crunch time during the weekend!!!

7. Version 2

We had the weekend to make our show opens, lower thirds, transitions, and animated backgrounds as amazing as possible. We got our show open pretty close to where we want it to be. Some concept differences, but I'm sure we can pull off a really great show open. Lower thirds got great responses as well as our transitions. Animated background still needs some touch ups, but overall great progress from last time.

LOWER THIRD 1 & LOWER THIRD 2

For the lower thirds they said that the animation and style was very well done. The only thing that really needed to be touched up was the white gradient backdrop. The edge was a little sharp so we blended the edges a little more for a smoother transition.

TRANSITION 1 & TRANSITION 2

The transitions were a real success. For the first one there was a bit of a white halo around the circles so we went and touched those up. As for the second transition it seemed it was to long for a transition and a little too busy so we were told to maybe speed it up a bit for next time.

ANIMATED BACKGROUND

So for the looping background we went for a look that really tied in with the show open. The circles were fun but they seemed to be kind of a frame for the text so we play needed to play with it a little more before next class. We were also told to be a little more playful with the movement of the circles and be more fun and spontaneous with them.

SHOW OPEN

And last but not least is the show open. We got it to a point where we were happy, but not completely satisfied. The class told us that maybe we should add the Ringling College of Art and Design logo in the beginning to tie in the name circles that come out of the sphere. The sphere also looked too much like a button when it glowed because the shadow was still on it so that's something we had to touch up. Also the lines attached to the circles needed to really be refined because they got a little crazy in the movement. Definitely a good bit of things to fix.

8. Final Show Package

At last it has come to the final wire and we're done with our show package designs. I think we have come a long way from where we were in the beginning to where we are now. We were able to come through as a group and really make this piece look the way we wanted it to look. Looking back at our storyboards and style board and final frame I really think we were successful in keeping to our original concept and making it a really powerful and successful piece.

LOWER THIRDS 1 & 2

From past critiques we got really good feedback and positive notes for our lower thirds. We decided to just make a few touch ups by making the white backdrop move a little, but not so much that it became distracting and we also extended the text boxes in order to fit in any big names that might be put in.

TRANSITIONS 1 & 2

For the transitions we had really good comments for the first one so we really just needed to simplify the second transition. We used less circles and made the logo pop up for just a split second to make the transition a little faster. We were very happy with the end result of the transitions and think that they really help carry the feel of the show open through the entire show package.

LOOPING BACKGROUND

For the looping background we really narrowed it down to a simplified yet fun animation that wasn't too distracting from reading the text. It gives kind of a fun feel to where you are wondering what circle or ring is going to move next, but it isn't so crazy to where you completely disregard the text on the screen.

SHOW OPEN

At last our final awesome show open. We really made our concept more relatable to Ringling College, but also in a way stayed true to our original concept by showing how someone has a thought of the college and within the college are all the majors that are at this school. Our instructor said that the other department heads would definitely love this because it gives each major a shining moment and shows how we all together can create one single great concept.

This project was definitely a lot more rewarding than I thought is was going to be. I do admit in the beginning I was the most excited about this project,  but actually going through the process of making this show package I have learned a lot and really have an appreciation for show package design. Me and my partners had LOTS of troubles along the time span of this project, but with a little aspiration and belief in ourselves we got through it. One of my group members sent me an email after the project was finished and thanked me for being the "voice" of the group. He said that I really kept us in line when we got stuck in a bind and helped to keep us going in the right direction. I really think that that was the most rewarding part of this group project. In the future I do plan on being a director, whether it be Art Director, Creative Director, Technical Director, or simply Director so to have someone thank me for the leadership I brought to the group really makes me happy and honored to have been in this group and really pull off this really successful Show Package.
